Final Registration Process
The registration process is carried out on line. This year we are using the ConfTool Conference System for registration at http://www.conftool.com/pme34/ . You may also use ConfTool to join PME as a member, even without attending the conference.

 

If you are pre-registered as a PME34 participant, and have paid the Conference Deposit, follow the steps below:

  • You will receive (or have received) a pre-registration code via e-mail.
  • Once you receive the code, go to http://www.conftool.com/pme34/
  • Login using the same login and password that you used for pre-registration (you can retrieve your login and password by clicking on the links on Account Login page if necessary).
  • After logging in, choose “Pre-Registered participant”, and enter the code you received.
  • Fill in the requested information (including whether you plan to attend the Opening Session).
  • Go on to the next page.

Choose your payment option: either Bank Transfer or Credit Card.

  • If you choose to pay by Bank Transfer, you will receive the bank information for the transfer at the end of the process.
  • If you choose to pay by Credit Card, you will be taken to the Fundep page. On this page, you will need to enter the login and password provided during Pre-registration by Fundep (which, again, can be retrieved via e-mail if necessary). You can then enter your Credit Card information (the system accepts Visa, Mastercard and Diners’ Club).

 

You will receive a confirmation of your payment and full registration via e-mail.

 

 

If you have not pre-registered for PME 34, follow the steps below:

  • Go to http://www.conftool.com/pme34.
  • Under "First time here?" click on Register New (Note: if you have already registered, for instance, as a reviewer, you should enter your existing user name and password).
  • On the next screen, fill in your Personal Information. At the bottom of the screen, choose a User name and Password. Be sure to record this information. Click on “Create Account”.
  • On the following screen, select “NEW Registration”.
  • Fill in the requested information (including whether you plan to attend the Opening Session). Please select the level of donation (if any) you would like to make to the Richard Skemp fund.
  • Go on to the next page.

Choose your payment option: either Bank Transfer or Credit Card.

  • If you choose to pay by Bank Transfer, you will receive the bank information for the transfer at the end of the process. This information is also available on p. 18 of this Announcement.
  • If you choose to pay by Credit Card, you will be taken to the Fundep page. On this page, choose "Payment" then "New registration" and enter the requested information to create a new FUNDEP account. You can then enter your Credit Card information (the system accepts Visa, Mastercard and Diners’ Club).

You will receive a confirmation of your payment and full registration via e-mail.

 

If you want to pay the Membership Fee only:

  • Go to http://www.conftool.com/pmemember. Under "First time here?" Create account and register for Membership.
  • On the next screen, fill in your Personal Information.
  • At the bottom of the screen, choose a User name and Password. Be sure to record this information.
  • Click on “Create Account”.
  • On the following screen, select Membership Only and other options (Proceedings, Donation to Skemp Fund). This will take you to the next page, where the Membership Fee will already be selected.
  • Under “Membership Fee”, you will find the Bank Information for transferring (or pay by Credit Card) your Membership fee and/or extras. This information is also available BELOW and on p. 18 of the Second Announcement.
  • On the next screen, click to accept the Terms of Registration/Membership and to complete your membership.

You will receive a confirmation of your Membership via e-mail.

Your registration will not be finalized until the payment has been completed, that is the Bank has received your bank transfer or processed your credit card. You will receive a final confirmation at that time.

 

FEES: REGISTRATION AND/OR MEMBERSHIP ONLY 

The total registration fee is 450€ and covers:

  • PME membership for the year 2010 which includes 10€ compulsory donation to Skemp Fund.
  • A hard copy set of the conference proceedings and CD (available at registration)
  • Lunches (4 days) and Coffee breaks (9)
  • Opening reception (Sunday evening)
  • Conference dinner (Thursday evening) & entertainment
  • Excursions (Tuesday afternoon) and Social events
  • Costs of venue, administrative work and facilities needed for the organization of the conference.

For those who will attend the conference, the Conference Deposit paid during Pre-registration has been deducted from the full Conference Registration Fee in the ConfTool system.

The payment balance or full Conference Fee must be received not later than May 17th, 2010.

 

Accompanying Persons Fee

The fee for accompanying persons is 100€ per person and covers:

  • Opening reception (Sunday evening)
  • Conference dinner (Thursday evening) & Entertainment
  • Excursions (Tuesday afternoon) and Social events
  • Some of the administrative work involved, but not involvement in the scientific program.

Lunch coupons will be available for accompanying persons at fixed price at the registration desk. There is no fee for accompany children under 13 years old or less.

Conference Deposit

The Conference Deposit of 130€ is non-refundable.

  • For those who attend the conference, the Confference Deposit will be deducted from the full Conference Registration Fee.
  • The payment balance of the Conference Fee must be received no later than May, 17th, 2010.
  • For those who pay the Conference Deposit but do not attend the conference, the deposit covers:
    • PME membership for the current year 2010,
    • The mailing of one set of the Proceedings on CD and
    • The administrative costs related to the handling of proposals.
    • Late Registration Fee
    • An additional charge of 60 € will be applied for late registration fee, after May, 17th, 2010.

 

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations and changes regarding the Conference Registration must be done writing to Conference Scientific Secretary ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ). In all cases the Conference Deposit and Membership Fee Only will not be refunded.

If a cancellation for conference participation is made after the full registration fee has been paid:

  • Before May, 31st, 2010 the refund will be the amount paid minus the Conference Deposit, minus the commission that the bank charges for the transferring refund.
  • After May, 31st, 2010 only 50% of the full Registration Fee (minus the conference deposit) will be refunded, minus the Conference Deposit and the commission that the bank charges for the transferring refund.

For accompanying persons who cancel:

  • Before 31st May 2010 no charge, minus the commission that the bank charges for the transferring refund.
  • After 31st May 2010 only 50% of the full registration fee will be refunded, minus the commission that the bank charges for the transferring refund

 

Call for donations to the Skemp Fund

The Richard Skemp Memorial Support Fund plays an increasingly important role in making the PME annual conference more accessible to mathematics educators who would not otherwise be able to attend the conference. The extent to which we can give this financial assistance depends to a large degree on the generosity of the PME community. For this reason, the International Committee calls on members to make donations, however small, to the Skemp Fund in the appropriate place online when paying membership fees or registering for annual conference.

 

Extra copies of the conference Proceedings

PME34 participants may purchase extra copies of the Conference Proceedings at a special price when they register online, provided they order and pay for them no later than May 29th, 2010.

PME members who cannot attend PME34 conference and wish to have PME34 Proceedings should contact the Scientific Secretariat Teresinha Kawasaki at This email address is being protected from spambots. The price is 70€ plus postage for the hard-copy 4 volumes set. The Proceedings will be mailed after the end of the PME34 conference.

Postage costs can be avoided by picking the extra copies up at the conference either personally or by asking a colleague to do it. Also, there is a Post Office in the venue site, which is convenient for those who wish to send their own set of proceedings by mail.
